It’s been a while since I’ve updated anything here. While I have reasons for this, we’re just going to skip right over that and get to the meat of things. I’m also going to assume that everyone is okay with this. If you’re not, well, you’ll probably get over it?

The Sanctuary Lock: Querying continues on this but it’s a barren querying world out there. No real nibbles of which to speak. Given this, I’m going to give it until October. If I haven’t gotten something to give me hope by then, I’ll be doing what I likely should have to start and going the self-publishing route. There’s a non-zero chance this is timed to coincide with my day job’s bonus pay out so I’ll actually have money to pay for things like a copy editor, a cover artist, and a layout designer. (Note: pay your fucking artists and editors. Do not try to avoid this by using the plagiarism machine.)

The Thousand Doors: For those unaware, the The Thousand Doors is the next book in what I’ve been calling the Diamond Imperium Trilogy (The Sanctuary Lock is book one, and I don’t have a name for book 3 yet). I completed the first draft of said book earlier this month and am currently hip deep in the first editing pass. My hope is to have the first pass finished and the changes into the manuscript so I can send it off to a developmental editor.

The Autumn Assassin: While listening to Queen of the Murder Scene (The Warning’s 2nd album that’s a loose concept album), I got hit by an inspiration for a stand alone fantasy novel. I had to stop work on drafting TTD long enough to write down the outline. The day I started the first editing pass of TTD, I took the time to write the opening scene for TAA, and I’m excited about this one. This one will likely get written before I write book 3 of the Diamond Imperium trilogy.

Dragon*Con: For anyone who knows me, they know I avoid Dragon*Con like the plague. Primarily, I do this because I do not like being around that many people. I remember the golden years when Dragon*Con only took up a single hotel, and I didn’t need to train like going to a marathon for getting around the Con. It also didn’t require me to force my way through massive crowds. That being said, my daughter wants to attend one day this year. While she’ll be going around with her mother, I’ll be taking her down there and picking up here. Rather than having to make the trip twice, I’m going to spend the day wandering the Con. So if you see me around on Sunday, it’s not a mirage.

I think that covers everything fit for an update right now, because I’m certain no one cares about my starting to play golf again or things like that. After Dragon*Con, the next thing on the agenda is MultiverseCon in October. Well, outside of a trip in September up to NYC to take my daughter to see Wicked and Moulin Rouge on Broadway.
